UOB PRVI Miles 4.4 mpd on recurring bill payments

If you’re holding the UOB PRVI Miles Visa or Mastercard in Singapore, the bank has a new deal for you with 4.4 mpd offered when you make a wide variety of recurring bill payments using the card, up to a maximum bonus of 300 miles per month over and above your card’s usual earning rate.

This includes telco companies, Netflix and Spotify subscriptions and selected gym memberships to name a few.

Registration

This offer is valid for new and existing principal UOB PRVI Miles Visa and Mastercard holders. UOB PRVI Miles American Express cardholders are not eligible for this offer, however there is a 6 mpd deal for online transactions ongoing for that card until the end of 2020.

You must successfully register to participate in this promotion, which runs from 8th October 2020 to 31st December 2020.

To register, principal cardholders must send an SMS to 77862 using their mobile number registered with UOB, in the following format:

PRB [space] Last 4 alphanumeric digits of your NRIC or Passport Number Example: If your NRIC is S1234567A, you will need to send “PRB 567A” to 77862

All cardholders are eligible for this promotion, with no upper cap.

“All SMS Registrations for this Promotion which are not in the format prescribed, sent to an incorrect number, sent from a mobile number which is not registered with UOB, sent by the supplementary holder, or sent outside of the promotion period will be null and void.”

The offer

Those who have successfully registered will then be eligible to earn 11 UNI$ per whole S$5 spent on eligible recurring bill and subscription payments which are successfully charged to your card during the promotion.

That’s equivalent to 4.4 miles per dollar, and comprises:

• the usual rate of UNI$3.5 per S$5 spend locally (equivalent to 1.4 miles per S$1); and
• a bonus rate of UNI$7.5 per S$5 spend (equivalent to 3 miles per S$1).

Or, in the case of non-SGD bill payments:

• the usual rate of UNI$6 per S$5 spend locally (equivalent to 2.4 miles per S$1); and
• a bonus rate of UNI$5 per S$5 spend (equivalent to 2 miles per S$1).

The maximum bonus you can earn for each calendar month, combined between local and overseas spend, is capped at UNI$150 (equivalent to 300 miles). There is no cap on the usual base earn rate that you may be eligible to earn on your online recurring bill transactions during the promotion, even after your bonus cap is reached.

Online recurring bill transactions

This refers to transactions successfully posted to your card from any of the following participating merchants, and processed by the respective merchants as online transactions via a payment gateway.

Recurring bill transactions incurred by any supplementary holder of your card under this promotion will accrue to your card account.

When does the bonus credit?

Initially these transactions will earn at the regular earn rate, equivalent to 1.4 miles per S$1 spent for local spend or 2.4 miles per S$1 spent for overseas spend.

The bonus miles, paid as UNI$, will be credited to your account by 31st March 2021. Note that’s a three-month wait after the promotion has ended for the additional miles to arrive.

4.4 mpd on bus and MRT rides

Don’t forget if you have the UOB PRVI Miles Visa or Mastercard you can also earn 4.4 miles per dollar on local bus and MRT rides using SimplyGo (ABT) until the end of 2020, provided you didn’t use your card for a similar transaction during July and August this year.

Summary

The nice thing about this offer is that there is no cap on the number of cardholders who can take advantage, plus the list of eligible bill payments and subscriptions eligible is extensive, including the likes of Amazon Prime right through to most gym memberships.

Unfortunately the big downside is the low upper earning cap of 300 bonus miles per month, meaning this one will only net you a maximum of 900 additional miles this year. For many, it won’t be worth the hassle to move your subscription payments to these cards just for that.
