Singapore Airlines is continuing to provide support to its KrisFlyer and PPS Club members, many of whom are grounded during the COVID-19 pandemic, with status and miles validity extensions and even ways to earn Elite miles and PPS Value on the ground.
This week the airline has also applied a validity extension for several KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards and PPS Rewards already accrued, and in many cases previously extended once or twice already.
It means if you picked up things like upgrade rewards and double miles vouchers even before COVID-19, you’ll hopefully still be able to use them once travel restarts in the months ahead.
KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards extension
In case you missed it, Singapore Airlines replaced its Elite Gold Rewards programme with an improved KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards scheme in January 2021.
Milestone rewards now start at 5,000 Elite miles earned and are available to all KrisFlyer members, rather than just Elite Gold status holders.

In this latest extension Singapore Airlines has extended the validity of some KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards earned to 31st March 2022.
These were previously valid until 31st December 2021, for rewards expiring between July 2020 and September 2021.
“We will be extending KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards (previously known as Elite Gold Rewards) that will be expiring on 31st December 2021 to be valid till 31st March 2022.”
Singapore Airlines

This extension only applies to the following Rewards:
- Double KrisFlyer Miles Reward
- Short-haul Advance Upgrade
- Premium Economy Advance Upgrade
The extension will be reflected through your account progressively by 31st August 2021, so you may not see the new expiry dates immediately.
Your KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards can be used on flights departing after 31st March 2022, as long as they are applied to the respective booking on or before 31st March 2022.
Most of our readers will not have accrued any of the new Milestone Rewards applicable for lower Elite miles thresholds, like KrisShop promo codes and redemption discounts, since these were only added in January 2021 and the ‘earn status on the ground’ campaign does not include Milestone Rewards accrual.
In any event, these aren’t currently being extended even if you have earned them. These Rewards will continue to be valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
If you have applied your Short-haul Advance Upgrade or Premium Economy Advance Upgrade Reward on a booking which has now been converted to a flight credit, you’ll need to contact KrisFlyer Membership Services to have those redeposited.
Your reward will then be extended until 31st March 2022 and available for your next booking.
If you already applied your Double KrisFlyer Miles Reward against a booking which has now been refunded, the status of the reward in the system may still show as ‘Applied’.
In this case, just click on ‘Remove’ to remove your Reward application from the refunded booking. It will then be valid for use until 31st March 2022.

PPS Rewards extension
PPS Rewards were progressively extended last year, with those originally expiring between July 2020 and September 2021 then kept valid until 31st December 2021.
Under the new policy those expiring through to December 2021 will now all be extended until 31st March 2022.

“In appreciation for our members’ loyalty, we will be Extending PPS Rewards that will be expiring on 31 December 2021 to be valid till 31 March 2022.”
Singapore Airlines

This applies to:
- Double KrisFlyer Miles Rewards
- 50,000 KrisFlyer Miles Redemption Discount
- Advance Upgrade
The extension will be reflected through your account progressively by 31st August 2021, so don’t expect the validity dates to reflect when you log on to your account before the end of this month.
Your PPS Rewards can be used on flights departing after 31st March 2022, as long as they are applied to the respective booking on or before 31st March 2022.
If you already redeemed an award ticket with your 50,000 KrisFlyer Miles Redemption Discount that has now expired, you can have it reinstated to your account provided your booking meets the eligibility criteria for the current global travel waiver policy, by contacting KrisFlyer Membership Services.
The reward will be reinstated into your account with validity extended to 31st March 2022.
If you applied your Advance Upgrade Reward on a booking which has now been converted to a flight credit, you’ll need to contact KrisFlyer Membership Services to have it redeposited.
Your reward will similarly be extended and will be valid till 31st March 2022.
As with Double KrisFlyer Miles Rewards for KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards, if you have already used this benefit as a PPS Reward against a booking which has now been refunded, the status of the reward in the system may now show as ‘Applied’.
In this case, just click on ‘Remove’ to remove your reward application from the refunded booking. It will then be valid until 31st March 2022.

KrisFlyer miles
PPS Club members don’t need to worry about KrisFlyer miles expiry, but for KrisFlyer members whose miles are expiring (or would have expired) between April 2020 and March 2022 there have already been several progressive validity extensions announced.
Here’s when any expiring KrisFlyer miles will now expire, under the latest extension to the policy.
Latest miles expiry table
Highlighted dates reflect the latest extension. In some cases, miles have now been extended for two years.
Additional extensions for those whose KrisFlyer miles are expiring in April 2022 onwards have not yet been announced, however these seem inevitable given the continued lack of travel opportunities for the foreseeable future.

Other renewal initiatives
In early January this year, Singapore Airlines announced a second extension to KrisFlyer Elite and PPS Club status levels.
Full details are available at our dedicated article.
Aside from miles and status extension, Singapore Airlines also launched a new offer to allow you to renew or upgrade your next membership year without flying, through on-ground earning by shopping or transferring credit card points into the KrisFlyer programme.
See our article for full details.
Summary
Singapore Airlines is continuing to keep its KrisFlyer and PPS Club loyalty members’ status, miles and in this case additional rewards in check with generous validity extensions during this period with very few travel opportunities for most people.
If you have any of the valid accrued KrisFlyer Milestone Rewards or PPS Rewards, or you applied them to a booking that is now cancelled due to COVID-19, you should now be able to use them against any future booking, so long as they are applied by 31st March 2022.
Stay tuned for further extensions, especially for KrisFlyer miles themselves, which should be getting another lease of life within a month or two.
