HSBC has launched a new deal for its Premier Mastercard cardholders, and it’s one of the better hotel offers we’ve seen attached to a Singapore credit card in a while, with a complimentary second night at one of four Mandarin Oriental properties in Asia.
Breakfast for two is included, and there’s no minimum spend or points to burn – you simply pay the first night’s rate with the card and the second night is gratis.
There are, of course, some catches.
The booking has to be made by telephone through Mastercard Concierge, there’s only one redemption per cardholder for the whole promotion, and the “Pay 1 Night” rates are fixed and vary in their generosity. Here’s how it works, and whether it’s worth it.

The offer
The promotion runs under HSBC’s new Premier Destinations banner, and is exclusive to primary cardholders of the HSBC Premier Mastercard issued in Singapore. Supplementary cardholders are not eligible.
Four Mandarin Oriental properties are participating, each with a single eligible room type.

Bookings can be made from 1st September to 30th December 2026, with all stays to be completed by 31st December 2026. Allocation is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so the popular dates at the Singapore property in particular are unlikely to last.
What you’ll actually pay
The complimentary second night carries no room charge, no taxes and no service charge, so the total cost of a two-night stay is simply the “Pay 1 Night” rate, plus the applicable taxes for that night.
Here’s what that works out to.
| Two Nights, All-In | |||

The Singapore figure is the one most of our readers will focus on, and for S$327 per night all-in for a Deluxe Sea View room with breakfast for two at Mandarin Oriental it’s a good deal.
To put it in context, the hotel’s own flexible rate for the same Sea View room on a midweek date in November is S$729++ room-only, or S$769++ with breakfast for two – the like-for-like comparison, since breakfast is included in the promotional rate. That’s S$922 per night all-in.
The promotional rate comes to S$653 nett for the first night, so you’re already around 30% below the going rate before the second night enters the picture. Across the full two nights it’s S$653 against S$1,844, a saving of nearly S$1,200, and an effective nightly rate of roughly a third of what the hotel would otherwise charge, on the dates we checked.
Kuala Lumpur is the cheapest part of the offer in absolute terms, at roughly S$220 a night all-in for a Deluxe Twin Towers View room. Taipei sits in similar territory, once you account for the 15.5% service charge and tax.
Desaru Coast is the outlier.
Previously the One&Only Desaru Coast, and latterly The Sirēya, this property switched across to the Mandarin Oriental branding on 30th January 2026, and at around S$724 a night the 1,130 sq ft Rainforest Junior Suite is by far the most expensive room in the promotion.
It’s also the one where the “Pay 1 Night” rate is closest to what the property charges anyway. That said, this is a 44-suite resort set in 128 acres of rainforest, one of the late Kerry Hill’s final projects, with private gardens and plunge pools in many of the suites, including the Rainforest Junior Suite that’s part of this offer.
How to book
This is where the offer gets more awkward than it needs to be. There’s no online booking option – everything goes through Mastercard Concierge, by phone.
Step 1: Register for MTLS. Set up a Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services account using your full name exactly as it appears on your NRIC or passport, and your HSBC Premier Mastercard. The name on the MTLS account is the name that goes on the hotel booking.
Step 2: Call Mastercard Concierge on +65 3129 1241. Have your dates, guest names, preferred bed type and card details ready. WhatsApp is also available on the same number.
Step 3: Pay at the hotel. Settle the bill on checkout with your HSBC Premier Mastercard. This isn’t optional – pay with anything else and the benefit is void, and you’ll be charged two nights at the “Pay 1 Night” rate.
Your booking isn’t confirmed until Mastercard Concierge has secured it with the hotel and emailed you a confirmation, and the reservation has to be guaranteed with the card at the time of booking or it gets released automatically.
The all-important fine print
There are some important conditions to be aware of under this deal.
One redemption, full stop. Each eligible primary cardholder gets exactly one redemption across all four properties for the entire promotional period. This isn’t a benefit you can use twice, or use once in Singapore and once in Taipei, for example.
You have to be there. The cardholder who made the booking must be present at check-in and throughout the stay, and the promotion is explicitly non-transferable. You’ll need to present your NRIC or passport at check-in so the hotel can match it to the reservation, and they may ask to sight the card as well. So no booking this as a gift for the in-laws!
The cancellation policy is brutal. Cancel within seven days of arrival, or simply don’t turn up, and you’re charged 100% of two nights at the “Pay 1 Night” rate, plus taxes and service charges. In other words, the penalty for a late cancellation is that you pay for the free night too!
Note that this is double what the stay itself would have cost you, had you attended. Given how far in advance you’ll likely be booking, that’s a significant risk to bear in mind. At the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, your exposure is around S$1,307, and at Desaru Coast it’s close to S$2,900.
No stacking. The T&Cs state the promotion isn’t valid with other ongoing promotions, discounts, vouchers or member privileges unless otherwise stated.
If you’d normally book Mandarin Oriental through a Virtuoso or Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts style programme, where you’d typically pick up a room upgrade, a property credit and early check-in on top of breakfast, you’ll want to price up that alternative before committing to this deal.
A free night is worth more than a US$100 credit in most cases, but not always, and of course definitely not if you’d only have stayed one night anyway.
Extensions have to be booked separately. Mastercard Concierge can only handle the two-night promotional booking itself. If you want a third night, or a second room, that’s a separate reservation made directly with the hotel, at the hotel’s published rates, which seems a needless complication in 2026, and could cause some confusion at reception.
A reminder about the card
For those unfamiliar, the HSBC Premier Mastercard is only available to HSBC Premier customers in Singapore, which immediately rules out most people. For those who qualify, it’s one of the stronger general spending cards on the market.

The headline earn rates are up to 1.68 mpd on local spend and up to 2.76 mpd on foreign currency spend, though both of those assume you’re transferring to one of HSBC’s more favourable 2.5:1 partners. Transfer to KrisFlyer, which sits on a 3:1 ratio, and those rates become 1.4 mpd and 2.3 mpd respectively.
There’s also a sign-up bonus of up to 58,200 miles running until 30th September 2026 for Premier Qualified customers, which we recently covered in detail.
Summary
HSBC Premier Mastercard holders can book two consecutive nights at the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Desaru Coast or Taipei and pay for only one, with breakfast for two included. Bookings run until 30th December 2026, with stays completed by the end of the year.
The Singapore property is the standout on value, working out to roughly S$327 per night all-in for a Deluxe Sea View room with breakfast, against a typical flexible rate of S$922 for the same thing, a saving of nearly S$1,200 over two nights, and it’s also the easiest one to actually use given you don’t need to go anywhere.
Kuala Lumpur and Taipei both make sense if you were heading that way regardless, and Desaru Coast is the indulgent option across the border, but not necessarily the sensible one for your wallet!
The frustrations are the phone-only booking process, the single redemption limit, and a cancellation policy that even charges you for the free night if you pull out inside a week. None of those are dealbreakers, but they do mean this is a benefit to use carefully.
If you hold the card and there’s a two-night trip in your diary before the end of the year, this one is worth strongly considering. Just don’t leave it until December to call, because the allocation is limited and we suspect the Singapore rooms will go first.
