In what’s becoming a regular monthly offer, HSBC is once again offering its cardholders in Singapore a three-day 20% off staycations promotion, in partnership with hotel booking site Agoda. The deal is for stays completed by the end of 2020, which is becoming a progressively shorter window but still gives you around 10 weeks to play with.
As before, it’s great news for those who are holding the revamped HSBC Revolution credit card, since it means earning 4 mpd for the payment on top of the attractive discount, though do be aware not all hotels are eligible for the offer.
There are also direct deals with The Fullerton Hotel, the W Sentosa Cove, the Shangri-La and The St. Regis over the same dates, some of which are worth a look.

16-18 October offer
If you missed out the last couple of times, or simply want to make another booking, HSBC and Agoda are once again running a three-day flash sale for cardholders booking staycations between Friday 16th October and Sunday 18th October, for stays through to the the end of 2020.

This is in place of the usual year-round 12% discount for HSBC cardholders.
Agoda 12% Discount
agoda.com/HSBCstaycay
That same link is where you’ll access the 20% discount flash sale this weekend.
Although the discount is offered across all HSBC credit cards in Singapore, combining it with the Revolution’s new 4 mpd rate for Agoda bookings makes the deal even sweeter, so this is the one to go for in our opinion.
Your 20% discount applies to the room rate only (excluding taxes). Even if you took advantage of the offer last time, you’ll be eligible to do so again this weekend. Details of the promotion including terms and conditions are available here.
How it works
- Make your hotel booking via agoda.com/hsbcstaycay
- Stay Period: Now to 31st December 2020
- To benefit from 20% off, booking must be made from 16th to 18th October 2020, otherwise a discount rate of 12% applies
- Book a ‘Promo Eligible’ hotel and rate (not all are included)
- Select your HSBC credit card at the payment stage

Example
Here’s an example of how the HSBC Agoda staycation booking discount at the current 12% rate looks.

This last stage is where you’ll see the discount reflect at the enhanced 20% level when booking between 16th October and 18th October, for stays from now until the end of the year.
Staycation deals
Most of the hotels now open for staycation bookings in Singapore have some form of deal on offer when you book direct. You won’t necessarily get the best rate, nor the additional staycation perks, if you book through Agoda.
While 20% off stacked with 4 mpd is a very attractive deal, make sure you’re not paying over the odds for the miles (not too much anyway) and not losing out on benefits you would value more, like dining credits, free parking, etc., which may outweigh the miles value for your chosen property if a good staycation deal is on offer when booking directly.
Also, not all hotels are included in the Agoda HSBC promo, including Marina Bay Sands and the InterContinental, so the offer is only useful if your preferred property is participating.
Other Agoda offers
If you don’t have an HSBC credit card, don’t despair. Agoda offers discounts and/or bonus miles across all the major cards in Singapore, including a 10 mpd deal for DBS Altitude and Woman’s cardholders.
Here’s a summary of the offers on the miles earning side applicable to Singapore staycation bookings.

We also recently did a full analysis on miles earning and discounts offered using your credit card at Agoda.

Other HSBC offers
HSBC will also be running offers on four direct staycation packages, with The Fullerton Hotel, the W Sentosa Cove, the Shangri-La and The St. Regis for bookings between 16 – 18 October.
The Fullerton Hotel (S$297++)

- Daily breakfast for two persons
- S$100 of dining credits per stay
This special rate at S$297++ is limited to the first 100 bookings.
Note: Last month only the first 50 bookings were eligible and the offer sold out fast, so a ‘double allowance’ this month should help a little.For bookings 101 and onwards or those from 19th October onwards (whichever comes first), the rate increases to S$314++ per night on the same basis, except that the dining credits per stay reduces from S$100 to S$80.
This offer is available for stays from now until 29th December 2020 (except blackout dates 24th & 25th December 2020).

This offer available for stays until 30th November 2020, except on Fridays and Saturdays.
Note: Last month this package was available for HSBC cardholders at S$349++, and only Saturday nights were blacked out, so it’s certainly much less attractive this time round!To book: Email promotions.wsingapore@whotels.com, quoting “HSBC” between 9am and 5pm |
Full details available here.
Shangri-La (from S$252++)

Exclusive Family (S$252++) |
Couple Staycation (S$452++) |

Inclusions:
This special rate at S$452++ is limited to the first 50 bookings. For bookings 51 and onwards or those from 19th October onwards, it increases to S$495++. |
Both of these offers are available for stays from 16th October to 20th December 2020, except on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Effectively they are therefore only good for a mid-week staycation.
The value though is very good here for both options in our opinion.
To book: Email Reservations.sls@shangri-la.com, with the following details:

The St. Regis (S$356++)

Inclusions:
- Complimentary upgrade to Grand Deluxe Room

- S$100 worth of dining credits

This offer is available for stays from 16th October 2020 to 31st March 2021. Blackouts are all Saturdays and 31st December 2020.
This could work well for a Friday or Sunday night stay however, and the value is nice in our view.
To book: Email Reservations.Singapore@stregis.com, between 9am and 5pm, quoting “HSBC” and your stay dates. |
Full details available here.
Summary
If you’re interested in these deals, either through Agoda or directly with the hotels in question, mark your calendar for 16th to 18th October. Remember to check how the prices look through Agoda with this HSBC offer and compare with other staycation offers before you commit.
The Revolution card is the one to use with Agoda, giving you 4 mpd in addition to the 20% discount. Remember you won’t see the final rate with 20% off until you reach the payment stage and your HSBC credit card number is entered, and you’ll have to pick a ‘Promo Eligible’ hotel and rate for it to work.
The direct hotel offers with The St. Regis and the Shangri-La are both good value in our opinion, and worth considering.
Be sure to compare with best available rates directly with the hotel as always, and also consider the benefits of any staycation packages on offer, most of which won’t apply unless you book directly.
If you are losing some benefits, make sure the discount and the miles you’re getting instead are worth the difference.
