Harvey Norman has a new store in town at the Westgate Shopping Mall in Jurong East, with some opening promotions this weekend including 3 times the usual KrisPay miles on scanning your Kris+ app QR code when making payment for your purchases, which means additional miles on top of your credit card points.
Harvey Norman stores in Singapore usually credit 1 KrisPay mile for every S$3 spent (0.33 mpd), but under this promotion exclusive to the new Westgate store this weekend you’ll get 3 KrisPay miles for every S$3 spent, equivalent to 1 mpd.

That’s not an incredible earn rate, but if there is a significant spend you’re planning anyway on electrical goods this weekend it could make a nice difference, especially when combined with your credit card points.
The newly opened store is also running some special deals on electrical and I.T. products during this opening weekend event you might be able to take advantage of, while still earning extra miles.

Relevant terms and conditions are as follows:
- KrisPay miles are earned from your purchases that are paid for using cash, credit card or debit card. Not valid for payments made using KrisPay miles (you should never be doing this).
- Earning KrisPay miles is not applicable on purchases paid with credit card interest free installment plans.
- Invoice name must match your KrisFlyer member’s name.
Full terms and conditions are available on the Kris+ app.
Which card to use
As you probably already know, with Kris+ you’ll earn KrisPay miles for your transaction (which you can then convert into KrisFlyer miles) on top of the usual points you’ll get when using your best credit card to make payment.
Kris+ earning is only for in-store (physical) transactions.
Where possible, you’ll want to be using a credit card offering a 4 mpd bonus rate when making in-store purchases at Harvey Norman Westgate this weekend, which you’ll then earn separately and in addition to 1 mpd through Kris+ for a total effective earn rate of up to 5 mpd.
Contactless
If you hold one of the following credit cards, you’re simplest option by far is to earn your highest bonus rate by making a contactless payment with Harvey Norman, provided the new Westgate store supports this payment method, while also scanning to earn KrisPay miles through the Kris+ app.

MCC-specific
Harvey Norman uses the following Merchant Category Code when processing credit card payments:
MCC 5732: Electronics Sales
That means you can activate the bonus spend categories on the following cards without the need to make a contactless transaction, or if that payment method is not supported.

Still unsure?
If you’re still not sure whether your bonus miles credit card is eligible at Harvey Norman, our advice is to use your best card for general spend miles accrual, especially if the transaction is substantial.
For smaller amounts you may wish to take the chance, but remember most bonus category spend credit cards earn just 0.4 mpd when you make transactions that the bank decides don’t qualify.
The ‘Earn Button’ has moved
If you’re still used to the old KrisPay app when earning miles for purchases, be aware that the function has been relocated slightly in the new Kris+ version.
You can now find it via the ‘Wallet’ icon at the bottom of the screen when using the app.

Just click on ‘Earn’ then type in the total amount spent at the retailer, hit next and allow the cashier to scan the QR code.
KrisPay miles earned through Kris+ can only be transferred to your KrisFlyer account within 7 days of the transaction. To do so, simply tap on the “Transfer to KrisFlyer” button which will appear on the miles earned confirmation screen or transaction details screen.

Remember that as before KrisPay miles earned per transaction can only be transferred to your account in their entirety. If you earned 100 KrisPay miles from a single Kris+ transaction, for example, the full 100 KrisPay miles must be transferred to your KrisFlyer account. If you have already spent some of your KrisPay miles earned, a partial transfer option is not available.
We therefore recommend transferring to KrisFlyer immediately following any Kris+ earning transaction, in case you either forget or make a mistake later.
Summary
Not the miles earning deal of the century, but if you’re in the market for electrical or I.T. goods in the run up to Christmas it may be worth making a trip to the new Harvey Norman Westgate store this weekend, armed with your Kris+ app to earn extra miles if something takes your fancy.

Remember to combine the purchase with your best miles earning credit card to maximise your return, with up to 5 mpd possible with the right payment combination.
