Singapore Airlines is back with its regular monthly ‘Spontaneous Escapes’ deal, offering 30% off the usual miles rates for saver award tickets on a range of routes for travel in November 2019, provided you book by the end of October.
It’s an extensive lineup this month, as the airline tries to fill its seats on a range of routes which become a little less popular in November.
A return Business Class option to Europe is available with the Dusseldorf route on offer for 64,400 miles in both directions next month, a nice enhancement as we’ve typically seen only one-way discounts recently meaning you had to stump up the regular miles rate on the way home.
A good list of Australia routes are discounted in Business Class, while more close to home we see the return of Bali, Bangkok, Male and Hong Kong to the list, many of which include the latest Business Class seats.
There are 39 Singapore Airlines destinations on offer this month plus 16 for SilkAir, though 3 of the latter overlap with SIA for a true total of 52 destinations across the two carriers.
Best in Business
There’s a very good range of Singapore Airlines’ latest Business Class seats for 30% fewer miles in November 2019, so let’s start by summarising those before we move on to the main list of all available routes.

Hong Kong is back on the new A380s, adding to the regular Shanghai option for the new 2017 Business Class seats. Pick SQ856/861 to and from Hong Kong and SQ830/833 to and from Shanghai to take advantage of these for 27,300 miles each way.
There are still a few Japan options in November including Tokyo, Nagoya and Fukuoka.
Brisbane on the A350 with either the new Regional Business Class seats or the 2013 long-haul seats is a good deal, now available for a third consecutive month at 43,400 miles each way. Adelaide flights also make an appearance this month, with the new 2018 RJ seats.
Bangkok is back with all three daily Boeing 787-10 flights on the route available in Business Class for 15,050 miles. That’s a great way to try out these new seats if you haven’t flown them before, though you may be more tempted by either of the daily Bali flights on the same aircraft type for just 13,300 miles in Business.
Jakarta flights are also available again in both the 2013 J and 2018 RJ seats.
Singapore Airlines November 2019 Business Class discounts
Here’s the full list of SIA Business Class routes on offer for November 2019, including the Business Class seat types as well as the aircraft types.
This should help you choose better on your preferred route, as there’s nothing worse than getting a great deal, then stepping on board only to find an average seat awaits. Here are the seat type abbreviations for reference:

You might even be swayed to choose your preferred route based on the aircraft or seat type, especially if you’re still looking to try one of the newer options for the first time.
You’ll pay 30% fewer miles than usual for a saver redemption if you can book by the end of October and travel during November.

No Premium Economy USA offers this month
Singapore Airlines often releases Spontaneous Escapes deals two months in advance for Premium Economy cabins on A350 ULR non-stop USA flights.
This probably isn’t necessary for them in the run up to the busy Christmas and New Year period, so there are no such offers this month (i.e. for December).

In any event these discounts usually represent poor value, since they are only ever on the list when the fares themselves are rock bottom (e.g. sub-S$1,500 return).
Fifth freedom routes
You may note from the tables above that there are discounts on some of SIA’s “fifth freedom” flights (which don’t operate to or from Singapore itself) this month, including the following in Business Class:
- Hong Kong – San Francisco (SQ2 – 62,300 miles)
- San Francisco – Hong Kong (SQ1, SQ3 – 62,300 miles)
With the following in Premium Economy:
- Frankfurt – New York (SQ26 – 32,900 miles)
- New York – Frankfurt (SQ25 – 32,900 miles)
And finally the following in Economy Class:
- Hong Kong – San Francisco (SQ2 – 23,100 miles)
- Frankfurt – New York (SQ26 – 15,750 miles)
- New York – Frankfurt (SQ25 – 15,750 miles)

Important booking tip
We say it every month, but we still get asked most months! “I searched the right flight but the rate is not showing as discounted!”
The Singapore Airlines website and app don’t make it obvious that the discounted miles rate is being applied. Don’t despair, just click the ‘Saver’ rate and then check the drop-down box, where the discounted rate will then be shown, provided your flight is applicable for the discount. Here’s how it looks:
In the event the miles rate doesn’t show a discount, check that you are searching a valid route, outside a blackout date, and that the flight lands before the promo is finished.
Spontaneous Escapes is every month
Another question we are commonly asked each month via email or Facebook, from around 12th onwards, is “will there be a Spontaneous Escapes offer this month?”.
Obviously we’re happy to answer but since February this year Spontaneous Escapes is now a regular monthly offer. Singapore Airlines has committed to releasing a Spontaneous Escapes deal every month, around mid-month for travel in the following month. The list may not be very long each time, but there should always be an offer of some kind.
The rules
Our ‘boring but important’ section. Spontaneous Escapes deals can offer you a significant saving if you’re able to make relatively last-minute travel plans, however there are some terms and conditions to be aware of before you dive in and book for the whole family.
Flights are non-refundable
Once booked, flights at these Spontaneous Escapes promotional redemption rates are non-changeable and non-cancellable. Use them or lose them!
Book one-way
All flights in the chosen itinerary must be included in the offer, otherwise the miles rate reverts to standard ‘Saver’ rates for the whole itinerary, with no discount. We recommend booking one-way legs so you can still save, for example on one direction of a return trip.
Play by the rules
Travel must be completed by 30th November 2019 (GMT+8). That means for example if you’re flying back from Seoul to Singapore on 30th November you’ll find the 30% discounted rate available on all the eligible flights on that day, except SQ603 departing at 23:45.
That’s because it lands on 1st December, which is outside the offer window for that route. Worse still, as we mentioned with the one-way suggestion, if you’re heading up to Seoul on a Spontaneous Escapes deal a few days earlier and wish to take this 23:45 flight home on 30th November, the whole itinerary will re-price at regular saver rates.
That’s another good reason to book two one-way awards (Spontaneous Escapes on the way there, regular saver rate on the way back). This way you’re still saving 15% of the usual saver miles required.
Some of our readers have reported success in getting Singapore Airlines to honour the 30% off rate for flights like this, but since that’s clearly stipulated in the terms and conditions they don’t have to do this. It’s a goodwill gesture if offered, you may want to try.
The more obvious stuff
Here are the rest of the major T&Cs for the Spontaneous Escapes offer:
- Redeem online by 31st October 2019.
- Valid for flights from 1st – 30th November 2019.
- Valid for ‘Saver’ award tickets on selected routes.
- Blackout dates apply on certain routes (e.g. Brisbane to Singapore blocked in Premium Economy Class from 23-30 November).
- Stopovers are not allowed (as we mentioned above, think one-way redemptions with this offer).
- Waitlist Saver redemptions are included in the discount, however the waitlist must clear on or before 31st October. If it clears after that, the regular ‘Saver’ rate will apply.
The full terms and conditions for this month’s Spontaneous Escapes, also including the full route list we have already outlined above, is available on the dedicated landing page for the deal.
Summary
A nice range of destinations in the Spontaneous Escapes offer this month including a few European cities, mainly in Economy or Premium Economy but some including Business Class like Dusseldorf in both directions at 64,400 miles each way, and Frankfurt in Business heading westbound.
It’s great to have a return option from Europe in Business Class this month, since previously the discounts had only applied one-way.
Australia gets a few discounts this month, typically quite an expensive redemption at 62,000 miles one-way in Business Class it’s a much more palatable 43,400 miles, and widely available on the Brisbane route among others.

A good range of other routes is available in the 2013 Business Class seat on the A350 and 777-300ER, including Beijing and Shanghai. Even Kuala Lumpur gets a look, with the long-haul A350 operating SQ118 flights in the winter season.
Bangkok is back, our favourite ‘go-to’ route for trying out the 2018 Regional Business Class on the 787-10. All three daily flights with this cabin product are included, but there are still some older seats flying so make sure you pick your flight number carefully if you want to try it out. Our list above will help you.
Check out our full review here to get an idea about what the new seats are like.

The 2017 J product on the new A380 is available on the Hong Kong route again in November, joining the regular Shanghai discount. It’s worth a look at 27,300 miles each way on these two routes.

As we mentioned last month a good range of Premium Economy discounts is now a regular part of the Spontaneous Escapes offer. Destinations this month include London for 45,150 miles and Shanghai for 22,400 miles.

For SilkAir routes, the non-stop 6+ hour Hiroshima to Singapore flight is good value at 17,500 miles in Economy Class, as is the similarly long Cairns route for 19,600 miles, but there are no offers in the Business Class cabin again this month.
Our tables above should help you to pick the right flight on all these routes to ensure you get the new cabin products (or at least ones you’re happy with) in Business Class, and the aircraft type of your choice in either Premium Economy or Economy Class.
Provided you have firm travel plans, since Spontaneous Escapes deals are non-refundable, you might well find a useful option in the list this month. Remember if you’re unable to secure a return flight at the discounted rates, book two one-way tickets instead. You’ll pay the usual ‘Saver’ rate for the non-discounted sector but at least the whole itinerary will not be at the standard rate (and a 15% saving is still welcome).
